how can i obtain a photo ID IMMEDIATELY?

My son recently turned 18 while visiting California. He is ready to return home to Idaho by plane but he can't board without a picture ID. He has his birth certificate and social security card but the airline still won't allow him to board. Is there any place in the Sacramento,Ca. area he can go get an ID that he'll have within a few days? Please help, i don't know what to do.

If there is a kinko's/fedex store they take photo id pictures

In CA they mail your ID to you so that won't work. You have to have a picture ID issued by the state or government to get on the plane. Nothing else will do in these post 9/11 days. How did he get there in the first place? Anyway it will be impossible to get the right ID's if he needs to fly right away. The only mode of transportation that does not require one is Greyhound. Sure it will be a long trip but could be educational. I feel for you now but when it's over a great present for your son would be a passport. It works everywhere for any reason as it's the best ID you can have.

Sign up for a community college class, like a PE class or something. And then ask for a student ID.
