I am new to California. I want to go to the beach. The beach my friends are reccomending is a cold one in Monterey. That's not what I think of when I think "Beach"

well the closest beach, i think really you are going to need to go into the city, that is san francisco, that is about 2.5 hours away from you. on the other side of san fran is golden gate beach. If you go down to monterey you are looking at adding on another 2 to 2.5 hours onto your trip making it from 4 to 5 hours from sacramento.

Montery is about 2-3 hrs from Sacramento depending on the traffic. Northern Ca beaches aren't real good for swimming. Good for diving.

Now,if you want to go swimming go to Folsom lake. But, not until the end of June as right now the water is very cold due to the snow melting and a lot of drift wood. They have a sandy beach, but it isn't a ocean beach.

When you say beach, I am assuming you mean something like you see on "Baywatch". The closest beach like that is Pismo Beach, which is about 300 miles straight south.

Take Interstate 5 to CA 46, head west until you get to US Highway 101, and head south.

On the plus side, you go through Atascadero, which is where the psych hospital that Sara Connor escaped from in "Terminator 2" was located.

My sought after seashores are New Brighton, Halfmoon Bay, and Seacliff. those have advantageous stretches of sand and much less human beings than maximum different seashores interior the section. they supply camp websites, yet please examine with the park provider earlier heading out as you would be able to would desire to order your tenting area. Halfmoon Bay in specific could have a waiting checklist for in one day spots. Halfmoon Bay is south of San Francisco. New Brighton is basically south of Santa Cruz. Seacliff is between Santa Cruz and Monterey. the closest to you would be Halfmoon Bay, however the others are truthfully particularly truthfully worth the morepersistent.
